Minnesota K-12 Students Complete Academic Year

Minnesota K-12 students around the state begin their summer breaks this month. Many of our school communities faced tremendous upheaval, fear and disruption among their immigrant and limited English proficient (LEP) populations this academic year.  While school may not be in session, the district offices, teachers and staff will continue to address the mental, emotional and physical health of their students within and beyond the classroom.

Language access is critical to LEP students’ learning experiences and education outcomes. Through our language services work with school leadership, social workers, secretaries, and support staff, our interpreting team witnessed the incredible response and safety net these learning communities created for their LEP students and families. The Minnesota Department of Education and school districts continue to implement policies and curriculum that view student multilingualism, cultural competency and diversity as assets. We are proud to be a State of Minnesota approved language services provider.

We stand in solidarity with our school district clients and partners, and commend their ongoing courage, determination and resilience. We wish the very best to all for a peaceful summer and look forward to a brighter year ahead.
