Public Comment Period Open Now
Last year Minnesota law created a work group charged with drafting recommendations to improve access to health care interpreting services. The Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Work Group members include the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), interpreter agencies, health care facilities, and other organizations. Our Director is a member, and we have welcomed this important opportunity to represent the local language services industry.
The group has now completed draft recommendations for review. The MDH has posted them in English, Mandarin, Hmong, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese here and the public is invited to comment on them. The public can also submit input and experiences via a comment form through September 29, 2026. Additional information about the workgroup and its most recent report are available on the MDH website.
