Need for Afghan Language Services Continues

Our Local Pashto, Dari, Farsi and Tajik Interpreters Respond

Minnesota has welcomed over 1300 Afghan evacuees as part of Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) MN and could receive up to 1600, according to federal and local agencies.

Our professional interpreters are providing language services in Pashto, Dari, Farsi and Tajik in partnership with local resettlement agencies including Catholic Charities, Minnesota Council of Churches, the International Institute of Minnesota, Lutheran Social Services and Arrive Ministries. These affiliates work in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Human Services Refugee Resettlement Program and provide a wide array of services, support and care for displaced persons and families.

As of March 31, University Language Center will have provided over 11,000 hours of interpreting services in response to this high-volume demand.  We are honored to be a part of this important work and look forward to our continued collaboration with OAW MN placement and assistance programs.
