Document Translation and Interpreting Play Essential Role
The State of Minnesota welcomed 1,363 Afghan evacuees between September 2021 and September 2022 as part of Operation Allies Welcome Minnesota. Our professional interpreters and translators continue to assist local resettlement agencies in providing a continuum of care and support for these evacuees.
As the resettlement process has passed the one-year mark, our team is providing language services to a network of local human rights organizations and law firms providing low-cost and pro bono legal assistance to refugees and asylees. Individuals and families now living in the U.S must apply for permanent resident status, also known as a Green Card.
The United States Custom and Immigration Service (USCIS) requires detailed, translated documentation from Green Card applicants. Our team translates a wide variety of documents from Dari and Pashto into English, including birth and marriage certificates, passports, and official military and travel paperwork. Many evacuees feared for their safety at home and were threatened by the Taliban in video or audio recordings, and Afghan journalists have provided written and reported accounts of conditions, all of which must be translated.
